Amjad ABU ALALA is a Sudanese filmmaker who was born and raised in the UAE. He studied media at UAE University. He has directed the short films Coffee and Oranges (2004), Feathers of the Birds (2005), Tina (2009), and Studio (2012). You Will Die At Twenty (2019) is his feature debut.
In 2023, he produced GOODBYE JULIA directed by Mohamed Kordofani (Sudan) awarded by the Freedom Prize (2023 Cannes Film Festival).



A filmmaker and a Media professional who has a wealth of experience in TV and Media Production in the Middle East and North Africa region. Amjad has worked for several Cinema films and TV stations as a Producer/ Director of several TV shows and programs that proved success within the region. With a working experience with a names such as Rahbani Production, Ashorooq TV, and towfour54.
Amjad Short films screened in many local and international film festivals and won Awards, films such as'On the pavment of the soul','Coffee & Orange','TEENA' and'Feather of the Birds'. His Film Studio' was supervised by the great Iranian director Abbas Kiarostami,
In 2013, Abu Alala won the Best Arabic Theatre Script Award from the Arab Authority for ‘Apple Pies'. Currently, Abu Alala is Head of the Programming Committee of the Sudan Independent Film Festival.
His debut feature, "You Will Die At Twenty" (2019) premiered at Venice Film Festival where it won the Lion of the Future - "Luigi De Laurentiis" Venice Award for a Debut Film, followed by an extensive festival tour throughout the world.

نبذة عن المخرج

أمجد أبو العلاء، مخرج سوداني ولد ونشأ ودرس الإعلام في الإمارات العربية المتحدة. كمنتج ومخرج، قدّم أبو العلاء العديد من الأفلام القصيرة التي تم عرضها في مختلف المهرجانات السينمائية، ومنها: "تينا" (2009)، "قهوة وبرتقال" (2004)، و"ريش الطيور" (2005)، والذي يُعتبَر علامة من علامات السينما السودانية. أما عن فيلمه "استديو"(2012) فقد تم إنجازه تحت إشراف ورشة عمل أجراها عباس كياروستامي. وفي عام 2013، فاز أمجد بجائزة أفضل نص مسرحي عربي من الهيئة العربية عن فيلمه "فطائر التفاح". ويتولى أمجد حاليًا منصب رئيس لجنة البرمجة في مهرجان السودان للسينما المستقلة
