Through three reports, Yamina Benguigui makes us discover in Femmes d'Islam the daily life of Muslim women living today in France and in countries of Islamic culture. She gives these women a voice, whether they are opposed to Islamic law or whether they claim it. Le voile et la République explores the situation of Muslim women in France, between tradition and integration. The veil and fear brings us to Egypt, Algeria and Iran, where women are often subjected to the law of men. Finally, in Le voile et le silence, we meet women from Mali, Indonesia and Yemen. This investigation leads to a social and human observation, a strong message to the attention of all and women in particular. Towards the end of the last century and at the beginning of ours, several women's voices rose up in the Muslim world, demanding a revision of the status imposed on them in the name of Koranic law. Nowadays, on the contrary, we see women, often young, who declare that they claim this Law, which they believe is the only way to liberate them. Femmes d'Islam, a trilogy of 52-minute reports, shows the daily life of women living today in France and in countries of Islamic culture in a variety of ways, beyond any political amalgamation or recuperative ideology. Men used the sacred to legitimize their privileges. In the land of Islam, pre-existing customs, Koranic provisions, and restrictive interpretations were superimposed to limit women's rights. Reduced to their only social behavior, which they mimed from mother to daughter, they perpetuated, along with their misfortune, the tribute that Muslim women paid to tradition at the expense of their flesh and blood. This trilogy is intended as a strong message to women. The real change will come from them. As everywhere and at all times, the great upheavals of History and Societies have come first from the courage of our women parents to resist.
