Julie Frederikse studied film production at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She has produced a number of TV series, documentaries, commercials, radio programmes and short films with her company, Vuleka Productions.
In 2003 she produced "The Sky in her Eyes", a short film by Madoda Ncayiyana, winner of the Djibril Diop Mambety prize for the best short film that year at the Cannes Film Festival.
She is also a journalist and a writer.
