Five years after fleeing Algeria in 1967, Adda lives at 17, rue Bleue in Paris with her two children and two sisters. She has a loving relationship with Merlin, her boss, who ensures a comfortable situation for the whole family. When Merlin dies, their destiny changes. Adda sees in the disappearance of her lover the opportunity to get her hands on part of his fortune.
